Spectra premium fuel sender

Has anyone used this sender lately? I havent been able to find many reviews on it. After searching around on here I have decided not to order their replacement gas tank, but I was curious if their fuel sender assembly is a quality part. You cant beat the price!

I font buy anything from spectra. I've always found their parts to be of poor quality. If you can find it in the same isle as the cheap air freshners and light kits you probably don't want it

Re: Spectra premium fuel sender

ya that has always been my general opinion of spectra too, but I see alot of people on this board that use their fuel level sender. So I was just curious what their experiences had been with that one specific part

you're thinking of two different companies; OP is referring to SPI SpectrA; the cheap dress up stuff in the "performance" isle is spectrE

Re: Spectra premium fuel sender

I have never installed an SPI Spectra part that worked without some incident. Gas tanks, heater cores , whatever. The problem is usually poor quality. I put a Spectra sending unit in my wife's Olds, and although the plug was extremely poor quality Chinese plastic, after I soldered the original connector on, the sending unit did work o.k.

Re: Spectra premium fuel sender

After searching around on here and the internet in general I couldnt find any bad reviews on the spectra fuel sender. I figure if it was really that bad of a product there would be a ton of bad reviews. I ordered one from ebay for $125 shipped. It also has a return policy so I figured I will give it a try. I will post pics and a review once it is installed

Re: Spectra premium fuel sender

I put one of these in about two years ago. I got mine off Rock Auto. Fuel pump and sending unit failed about the same time. So far it has been working okay, but I've only put a couple hundred miles on it due to my car not being emissions legal.

Re: Spectra premium fuel sender

I installed a Spectra sender on my old Camaro a few years back, never had any issue.
I also replaced the fuel tank on that car. Paid 3X the price and went with the Classic Industries tank. Guess what? When it arrived, it was a Spectra.
