Re: Flowmaster help

I've had a Flowmaster Force II system back in the late 90s. Switched over to a Dynomax UltraFLO in the early 2000s. Switched to a Hooker Aerochamber last year and like the chambered exhaust sound the best. To each their own.

Flowmaster droned some...but sounded mello(whatever that means) at part throttle and woke up about half throttle.

UltraFLO is basically a glorified glass pack. Wasn't too bad at part throttle but went apeshit at half throttle and above.

Aerochamber seemed louder at part throttle...but overall I think it sounds good as I got used to it. I think its louder than the first two at part throttle and probably about the same or a bit quieter at WOT. I love the echoing the exhaust makes coming out the back.

Most have gone to ******* exhaust tips...so I bought factory DynoMax tailpipes to replace the Aerochamer ******* tips. Why is it editing out R-e-d-Neck? lol

Re: Flowmaster help

i went with a flowmasters 80 series on mine, honestly sounds great even on my little v6, sounds really mean and agressive on the outside, on the inside you can hear it but not as bad, really cant hear it with the windows up and crusing even the with stereo on low, but really wakes up when you push the gas pedel, no droning doing 60-70 so im happy.

Re: Flowmaster help

I would say that would be your choice. Personally speaking, I believe I would run them out the back. I have an 80 series FLowmaster on my 92, not because I liked it, but because it was already on the car. Sounds ok to me, but I might someday replace it.

Re: Flowmaster help

If you want your car to sound like Pick-Up truck go for it. For me the Flowmasters turn out to be way too load. I just switch my 82 Bird back to OEM style exhust system. I ended up going with the Walker Quiet Flow 3 and it sounds great. The Drone is completly gone. So I now have Catco 4153 Dual Cat with the Quiet Flow 3.

Re: Flowmaster help

Both of my third gens have had the flowmaster american thunder 80s series catback in 3 inch. Its loud but not to the point of being obnoxious in my opinion. I will probably upgrade down the road when i feel its time but for now it does the job. Its also probably your cheapest option on getting a decent exhaust under your car.

Re: Flowmaster help

im running dual 44s. way too much drone and noise for street driving in my opinion. i ended up making removable baffles to quiet it down some. my 4th gen has a stock exhaust with a single flowmaster on it, and it sounds great. no drone at all.

Re: Flowmaster help

I will say that before you become dead set on flowmaster, go look up some videos for different exhaust systems. Do your homework thoroughly. I looked for about 6 months before I made my mind up and I went with a Hooker Aerochamber catback with no cat. For me it is absolutely perfect. Quiet while doing normal driving, zero highway drone, and sounds amazing on the loud pedal. Just don't be dead set on flowmaster. You may start looking and find you like that sound the least. Lol. Good luck to you!

Re: Flowmaster help

Headers, to a 2.5-3" y pipe back to a 3" Borla XR-1 sportsman. Sounds like my car has alot more than a little 305 in it.
