Summit Brand Carbs?

I just picked up the latest issue of Chevy High Performance and it has a showcase of 750 carbs. One they show is a summit brand street/strip. It looks like a very nice carb for the money. I know Holly is most peoples favorite but what do you all think of this carb?

Re: Summit Brand Carbs?

I believe it's a rebadged holley 4160. I am 99% sure they are/were made by holley though.

Re: Summit Brand Carbs?

I have been real close to buying the MS 750 version. If it is indeed a rebadged Holley, I am sold. I was kind of waiting a few months to see what the feedback was on them.

I found a review a guy did on a mustang forum. Very in-depth, seems like they are worth the money. I think ill get one in a few weeks and try it.

Re: Summit Brand Carbs?

Looks almost identical to the old Holley 4010 which hasn't been made for a while, which was a copy of the old Autolite 4100. Both were never received very well hence why they are out of production.

After reading the mustang forum review (I can't bring myself to post a link to a ford site, so search Summit carb review if you want to read the whole story) consensus seems to be the Summit Carbs are designed by the same person who help design the Holley 4010, but Summit improved upon the 4010 shortcomings, apparently Holley destroyed the original molds and Holley makes these carbs for Summit in the USA.

Me personally I would pay a few extra dollars and stick with a Holley 4150 because I know exactly what I am getting.

Re: Summit Brand Carbs?

^^^ That's what I've heard as well.

Performance is supposed to be very similar to a 4150, but the design makes it less easy to change jets etc?

Re: Summit Brand Carbs?

Yeah they kind of look like the old holley carbs that came on some fords....again they werent very good. I would spend my money on a holley 4150 or quickfuel

Re: Summit Brand Carbs?

Holley makes them badge-less specifically for summit.

They are just as good. Just bare bones. If you need a new carb a little better than stock there's no reason this isn't a viable option.

I'd consider them a little worse than stock.
