Vortech Supercharger Kit for TPI Discontinued

Has anybody heard that Vortech has discontinued this kit for the F Body TPI engine. On their website it says discontinued next to the picture of the kit. Yet another part for our beloved cars is history.

Sweet, so does that mean that the value of a used system will go up? I'm looking to sell mine this summer....

If you call Vortech usually they'll still have them kicking around. Ask for John Snee over there he's a great guy.

Re: Vortech Supercharger Kit for TPI Discontinued

Too bad.

I put one on my car last year - it was pretty easy to install.

Tech support from Vortech was marginal. The people I spoke to didn't seem to know anything about the 3rd Gen F-body kits beyond what was in the install manual. Apparently they didn't sell many. Got great support from their vendor Superchargersonline but they aren't showing those kits anymore either.

What are you replacing it with? Turbo?

Re: Vortech Supercharger Kit for TPI Discontinued

I decided if I wanted to make any more power I'd go turbo, but I'd be giving up some low end torque. The s-trim really moves air at lower rpms well. I'm getting rid of it because I'm tired of fooling around with blow through carbs. The ones that aren't super expensive aren't meant for the low rpm pressures on the primary side that I'm giving it and driveablility just isn't good and mileage is heinous. I want the car to be more of a street car and less drag/straight line. I'm swapping the built th350 for a t56 and just so I don't waste my fully forged motor, either some nitrous or maybe a 177 blower.

I will build a turbo car someday, but it will either be efi or carb and drag only. It works REAL well at WOT, I'm just not happy about the time it takes to tune or the money it costs to get right at the air pressure I'm at. I'm sure I'll get flamed for that....

Which is unfortunate. Especially given the awesome price of the Vortech kit vs. other power adder kits such as the ATI Procharger which costs nearly twice as much.

You can buy a head and have a bracket, intake tube, and oil lines fabbed for half the cost of the vortech kit anyway. If you do some homework and mark up some plate steel yourself, that is.

I had one made out of Ball Mill for really cheap. Its thicker then the steel one Vortech would send...BTW...mines TBI though not TPI...

Are you happy with your vortech or what failures do you have? I would be interested in buying it although.
