Anybody want a $22 AC Delete Pulley?

So I called Summit last night to order a delete pulley when my AC started screaming bloody murder. I was expecting anywhere from $60-90...who knows right. I mean really I paid $75 for my smog delete pulley. But nope. Summit hit me with a $22 part add $5 for shipping. It will be here in 2-3 BDays. I will be sure to take pictures of the fitment when it shows up.

Summit part number RNB-34157.

score!
just out of curiosity, does it require you to remove the AC compressor?
and either way, how difficult is it to remove the compressor?
im contemplating removing it for all my winter mountain driving and putting it back in for my summer city driving. or not. who knows.

You do have to pull the compressor. It isn't hard. Also, if you want to put it back in every summer, you are going to have to refill the Freon everytime.

Pretty much just a waste of time and money IMO if you're going to put it back in the summer anyway. I don't see the point?

They're around $20 at Discount auto, and no shipping charges, I bought 1 recently.

yea, probably, but i would like to know how hard or how easy it is to do and how much of a difference it makes.
it wouldnt purely be to have A/C, i want to see if theres a seat of the pants difference, and just because i can.

you will not notice it one bit. The compresser works off a clutch. You will see no seat of the pants gain by removing the compressor during the winter. Keep it on.

The main thing to look at in buying cheaper delete pulleys are the brand of bearings being used. The bracket and pulley are cheap, bearings is where cost comes in. Just keep that in mind if you plan on putting alot of miles on there.

Re: Anybody want a $22 AC Delete Pulley?

^^X2 on what he said, the compressor doesn't draw any power unless the AC is on and the clutch is engaged. Otherwise it just freewheels, essentially the same as the delete pulley. The weight reduction from removing just the compressor is negligible as well. But it's your car bro

Re: Anybody want a $22 AC Delete Pulley?

ahh ok.
that makes it seem completely pointless for anyone to do then.
oh well.
maybe if i get bored enough with it i will, but ill just leave it for the time being.
or if i find i never use it in the summer i might. who knows.

Re: Anybody want a $22 AC Delete Pulley?

Well I wouldnt call it completely pointless. I took my A/C out to save weight because that is more important to me. However I cannot run my serpentine system without that pulley. Still trying to figure out some way to go around it but what are you going to do ya know.
