Re: Pro Comp Cyl Heads

there are quite a few posts around here about them, the quality is very poor,

some people seem to think the are great, but just about everyone else will tell you they are junk, i heard that some need a valve job, right out of the box to get them to in spec, and they dont make the flow numbers or power they are advertised to make

Re: Pro Comp Cyl Heads

I sell tons of procomp heads at work and I have a mildly ported set on a 383 thats going in my iroc right now. For the money you cant got wrong, the only thing I would recommend is to buy a bare set and assemble them with quality components. When those heads came out a few years ago they had there share of problems but they have come way better with there quality control and are actually using SBI seats and bronze guides in the heads, as far as a budget aluminum head goes you cant go wrong. Most of these people that say these are total junk havent even seen or owned a set. I have some pics of mine if you would pm me Ill email them to you. Again I sell probably 100 or more sets of SBC procomps each month and never get calls about defects or anything. But in the end you always get what you pay for, a set of Dart, RHS, Brodix, AFR, etc would probably be better but if you shooting for 500hp or less on a budget there not a bad choice.
